This thing popped in my head just now, and I thought it would be rather interesting.
Lets say you had the power to bring back one car company from the dead, BUT, if you want to bring that car company back, one company you really like has to go bust in the process.
For me, the one company I want back?
When Oldsmobile was great, they were great. They made some of the most distinctive, forward thinking, and well built cars in America, they were like the thinking man’s Cadillac.
As for which company I would sacrifice.
As much as I like Jaguar, I wouldn’t miss them too terribly if they weren’t in service anymore. Their current lineup just doesn’t seem distinctive enough, and I’m not an F-Type fan in the slightest.
So Oppo, what car company do you want back, and which one (that you really like) would you give up?
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

I’d bring back Duesenberg, and as much as I love most of their classic cars and the Navigator, Lincoln would be gone in the blink of an eye.

I actually had a hard time in the original question choosing between Jag and Buick on which to chop. Buick would've been my second choice in a flash, I agree with you 100 percent on Buick.

I’d take Pontiac. If I have to give up a brand I actually like, and not something like Citroen that isn’t even sold here, I’d say Infiniti. I like their cars, and own one, but there are other brands that cover the same ground.

jags at least look good and by god are they comfy. So i wouldnt chop them. esp as they have that 3-series c-class a4 competitor coming out soon.

Ah yes, Duesenberg!! I’d be curious as to what their cars would even resemble. Something between a Bugatti and a Rolls Royce perhaps?

Yup. I’d think a cross between a Roller and a Charger Hellcat.

Bring back Pontiac and take Buick.

I vote Pontiac, GM doesn’t really have an answer to the ST twins, Dodge Charger or Taurus SHO except the SS which they treat like a red-headed step-child here in America, plus it’s like $50k.
The trade would be simple, Buick would be history. Just make Buick a highest trim level for Chevy cars, hell that’s kinda what it is already...

A supercharged v8 would be their smallest engine, then a twin turbo v12, then a NA v16 because why the hell not?

Bring back Pontiac with the caveat they continue where they left off. I would sacrifice Lamborghini. They made my favorite car, the Diablo but things are way too douchey now.

Bring back Saab. Kill Toyota. Watch the world burn.
(Just kidding, I honestly dislike modern Toyotas so it wouldn’t be a sacrifice, but the old ones I do like...does that count?)

Yeah, it does. This just kills the current product line, all the old cars made beforehand are still preserved.

Then Toyota, 10/10. It’s just encouraging people to be non-gearheads...there was a time when everyone at least knew a bit about cars but Toyota has completely gotten rid of that...Honda’s still trying to have some fun, so I’ll give them that...second one I want to kill would be Nissan, Toyota’s partner in crime, but I really like the Elgrand and the Juke so it would be harder...
